Antibarbari

R.S.V. ABB is the student soccer club/fraternity in Rotterdam, with 16 teams performing in different divisions within the 'West 2' district appointed by the KNVB (royal Dutch soccer league). Antibarbari was founded in 1991 and the name derives from one of the works of the Dutch philosopher Desiderius Erasmus. In 1520 he wrote the book 'Antibarbarorum Liber', which means 'the book against the uncivilized'. This title can be further translated as 'Antibarbari'.

The first team plays in the 3th division every Sunday. The other teams play in divisions ranging from the 2nd reserve division to the 7th division. It's safe to say that every year at least one team becomes champion of their division. The men's first team is coached bij Otto Hoogendijk en tehj second team by Frederik Blok.

All of the games are played on Sundays and practices are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Everything takes place at the beautiful 'Toepad' sports complex, often dubbed 'Antibarbello' by the members, and is at almost arms length from the Erasmus University and end stop of the tram 21 line. After practices and games, the Antibarbarian tradition of 'the third half' is always a must.

Women's Teams
For the seventh consecutive season, women's soccer has become an important pillar within our club. Like the men's teams, they practice every Tuesday and Thursday with games held on Sundays. There are currently three women's teams at ABB, since the third team ran up two seasons ago we hope to start a fourth team this new season. The playing level within the teams varies considerably, but the club spirit and overall enthusiasm can be found everywhere.
